This episode features two biliterate and trilingual competitions held by local education organisations. The organizers are keen to encourage students from kindergarten to secondary levels to learn and improve Chinese and English. They think that people’s being biliterate and trilingual can help maintain Hong Kong’s competitiveness. In the programme, contestants also share some tips for learning the two languages.

This episode interviews two students from the International Culinary Institute, Terry and Viann. Being biliterate and trilingual, they can learn other foreign languages more easily. While Terry’s learning of Japanese benefits from his knowledge of Putonghua pinyin and English phonics, Viann picks up Spanish efficiently as the language shares many similarities with English. Equipped with the language skills, they aspire to work in an international kitchen where they can meet chefs from all around the globe.
