The Closing Ceremony of the Campaign and Award Presentation Ceremony of the One-minute Video Production Competition “the Ceremony”), officiated by the Secretary for Education, Dr CHOI Yuk-lin and the Chairperson of SCOLAR, Dr Anissa CHAN, was successfully held on 23 May 2024 at the Lecture Theatre of the Education Bureau Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre. Around 400 guests from business and community sectors, teachers, parents and students attended the Ceremony.
With the support of the business community, the promotional videos produced by television stations highlighted the significance of biliteracy and trilingualism to the continued development of Hong Kong's economy, in particular for the hotel and tourism, retail, catering and transportation industries. The videos yielded five million views, effectively conveying the importance of biliteracy and trilingualism to the community. A 3-minute video highlights of the series of the promotional videos was presented at the Ceremony.
Awards of the One-minute Video Production Competition (“Competition”) were also presented during the ceremony. Thanks to the support from the school sector, the Competition received enthusiastic responses, attracting the participation of over 700 students and parents from more than 100 kindergartens, primary and secondary schools. The winning entries from the champion across all categories were showcased during the Ceremony, sharing their contribution with guests in the Ceremony.
Community partners, namely the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, the Hong Kong China Rugby, the HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education and Xianggang Putonghua Yanxishe, invited participants and winners of their activities to perform and share at the ceremony. Live performances featuring foreign coaches and students introducing rugby in English, Putonghua dubbing showcase and non-Chinese-speaking students sharing about Hong Kong local food and traditional festival check-ins in Cantonese were also brought to the Ceremony.
