Boss:Good morning, Linda. Yes, we can. Take a seat. So how's it going?
Personal assistant:Good news! You have an easy start, Mr Crawford, and Monday will be free of meetings and appointments.
Boss:Really? Finally there’s some time to clear the huge stack of papers on my desk. So, Tuesday?
Personal assistant:Here comes the bad news. You’ll have an early breakfast meeting with Ms Nathan at 8:30 a.m. in the office. I did request a later slot but she insisted. Sorry.
Boss:That's too bad.
Personal assistant:Do you want me to come early and get you two breakfasts takeaway?
Boss:Oh, really? Can you?
Personal assistant:Sure. 8:45 a.m.?
Boss:That's very thoughtful of you, Linda. Thank you so much indeed.
Personal assistant:No problem. Any preference? American or continental? And for Ms Nathan?
Boss:American, please. Ms Nathan? I really don't know. I’ve never asked. I can't say for sure. Oh, wait a minute. I remember her request for less salt and oil at the dinner.
Personal assistant:Maybe I'll get a continental breakfast for her. And I’ll have an English one. If she doesn't like it, we can swap. Do you mind all of them go with less salt and oil?
Boss:Of course I don't. You're really very thoughtful. Just one more request. Can I have fried eggs, sunny-side up, please? You help arrange all these and I'll get the papers ready for the meeting on my own. Thank you.
