The school-based reading programme aims to promote Reading across the Curriculum (RaC) and develop students' reading strategies necessary for processing different types of reading texts on varied themes. It also provides students with opportunities for application and consolidation of target strategies.
The Reading across the Curriculum (RaC) programme aims to develop students’reading and critical thinking skills through exposing students to a wide variety of genres and text types on various cross-curricular themes. An array of differentiated learning and teaching activities are designed to cater for students with different English proficiency.
The school-based public speaking programme aims to provide students with more opportunities to develop a broad range of generic skills and use English for purposeful communication both inside and outside of the classroom. Modules aligning with the textbook topics are designed. They cover the different aspects of public speaking, including the introduction of theme-based knowledge, teaching of speech writing and speech delivery skills.
Teacup Productions (HK) Limited conducted the project "English Mania" in the 2021/22 school year for primary 1 to 3 students. The project was designed to help primary students comprehend, think and express in English in a creative manner. Participants were engaged in creative thinking and speaking sessions by helping story characters solve their problems and handle tricky situations. Students also learnt how to express their ideas in mind in the form of written text through writing in speech and thought bubbles. Teacup Productions (HK) Limited conducted the project "Dr. Grammar" in the 2021/22 school year for primary 1 to 3 students. Through story narration and interactive card games, the project aimed to develop primary students’ English language skills, especially about grammar and sentence structures as well as listening and speaking skills. Students created their own story characters in the workshops, and thus built their comprehension and expression abilities in the process of listening and following the instructions. Teacup Productions (HK) Limited conducted the project "Bookworm" in the 2021/22 school year for primary 1 to 3 students. The project comprised story-reading and story-making elements with an aim to help primary students appreciate English. By the end of the workshops, students worked with their peers and compiled their own storybooks from scratch. The project aimed to provide primary students with an opportunity to develop English speaking skills with proper intonation and expressions through story. Through puppet characters with the use of picture cards, students were engaged in English learning activities and games so as to develop and improve their communication skills in English and to stimulate their imagination. The project aimed to develop primary students’ vocabulary building and story narration skills through storytelling and story-reading sessions. The Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection (AFTEC) presented the English Alliance 2019/20 prorgramme "From Page to Stage®: Tale of Two Cities". In March 2020, AFTEC had to cancel its annual production of 30 live performances of the programme in the Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre due to the pandemic. As a result, AFTEC turned this incredible show into a radio drama. We hope you will enjoy Dr Vicki Ooi's radio drama adaptation of A Tale of Two Cities inspired by Charles Dickens' novel, linking learning in English to the theatre and to life at large.

Hong Kong Rugby Union conducted a series of four-session "Rugby English Active Learning" programme for 1 888 students and teachers from 60 primary schools in the two school years. Students were introduced to the basic skills of playing rugby in a fun-filled English language environment.
An anthology of winning entries of the English Alliance – Stories Alive: English Story-Writing Competition for Junior Secondary Students 2010/11 was launched on 16 February 2012 at British Council Hong Kong with the aim of serving as handy learning/teaching materials for enriching students' writing activities.
