Project on Supporting non-Chinese Speaking Children in Learning Chinese
This programme aims to motivate non-Chinese speaking (NCS) children aged 3 to 12 to learn Chinese through activities such as games and creative arts in collaboration with non-profit making organisations.
Project Title: “Joining Opportunities for Non-Chinese Youngsters” Chinese Learning Support Programme (Phase 2)
Organiser: Methodist Epworth Village Community Centre, Social Welfare
A series of activities such as Chinese learning groups, paired reading and community learning activities are organised to enhance NCS children and their parents’ motivation and interest in learning Chinese.
Project Title: A project on designing audible picture books and paired reading to facilitate Chinese reading development of non-Chinese speaking (NCS) Primary 1 to 3 students
Organiser: Chinese Language Centre, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
The organiser targets three local primary schools to compile 30 volumes of Chinese audible picture books, each available in Cantonese and Mandarin versions, specially designed for NCS students in Primary one to three. They provide paired reading services and hold community exploration activities for NCS students to cultivate their interest in learning Chinese and help them develop a habit of reading Chinese.

Organiser: Yuen Chau Kok Inhabitants Association
The organiser holds a series of cultural experiential activities in conjunction with traditional festivals, incorporating lively Chinese learning elements. The main objective is to provide NCS students with the opportunities to experience the joy of learning Chinese and witness their improvement through these enjoyable activities.
