Thematic Household Survey on the Use of Language in Hong Kong 2015

Similar to the Thematic Household Survey on the Use of Language in Hong Kong conducted in 2012, SCOLAR conducted a survey in 2015 to track changes of the current situation on the use of language of the people of Hong Kong in different contexts, in particular, at home, at work and during their daily exposure to the media.  The Survey further examined the perceived needs and ways of the participants for improving language proficiency, as well as the factors affecting the language learning of different groups of people. 

The Survey in 2015 was completed and a total of 10 000 households were successfully enumerated.

Thematic Household Survey on the Use of Language in Hong Kong 2012

The Survey was first commissioned to the Census and Statistics Department by SCOLAR in early 2012 to study the use of language of the people of Hong Kong in different contexts, in particular, at home, at work and during their daily exposure to the media. 

The Survey in 2012 was completed and a total of 10 044 households were successfully enumerated.

Study on the Use of Language in the Workplace of Hong Kong 2012

The Study, involving both quantitative and qualitative elements, examined the problems and challenges of working adults of different age and occupation in the use of language at the workplace of Hong Kong.  The Study covered both employers and employees across five major industry sectors in Hong Kong which involved more than half of the working population of Hong Kong.  The five industry sectors were transport and logistics, retail, banking, import and export, and hospitality.
