Hundreds of people participating in a public event today (7 October) promised to say "No" to "laan5 jam1" (i.e. lazy articulation).
The event was organised to promote the TV series titled "Say No to 'laan5 jam1' ", which was produced by the Television Broadcasts Limited with the support of the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR).
The programme introduces some Chinese words that may easily cause the problem of "lazy articulation" in Cantonese. A language education expert also appears on the programme to demonstrate the proper Cantonese pronunciation of these words.
Its last five episodes will be aired from tomorrow to Friday during "Scoop", which is broadcast at 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the Jade Channel.
For abstract of the programme, please visit the SCOLAR website at http://www.language-education.com.
Established in 1996, SCOLAR advises the Government on language education issues and the use of the Language Fund.
